  1. Clicking wifi icon on taskbar opens network status settings page instead of available networks

Hi, this is happening on a Dell Precision 3520 running windows 10 Pro. It is very annoying having to go to settings page network status every time I click on the Wi-fi icon on taskbar, and then having to click on "Available Networks" to actually see them. It is unpractical, counterintuitive and cumbersome! And no matter how much I search I can't find another person with the same issue. It seems to be the task assigned to the wi-fi icon is wrong or corrupted, because it should show right away the available networks along with the one I'm currently connected to. Please help, it drives me crazy

    :)

  2. The Network Panel does not open when I Click on Network Icon

    Hi,

Thank you for providing us a detailed description of the issue with your network icon and for sharing with us the troubleshooting steps you've already tried to resolve this problem. Since everything has been updated, what we can try is to manage your wireless
networks. Let's see if clearing out the known networks on your WiFi settings and reconnecting to your own network will address it. Please follow the steps below:

    • Open Settings and click Network & Internet.
    • In the left pane, click WiFi, then Manage Wi-Fi settings.
    • Under Manage known networks, remove the networks that you don't connect to anymore.

Once cleared, click the network icon on your taskbar and see if it opens. Let us know if the problem persists so we can further check on it.

    Regards.

List availible wifi networks with powershell

    I ran the command
Clicking wifi icon on taskbar opens network status settings page instead of available networks 361891d1647007535t-list-availible-wifi-networks-powershell-1.png
I went away and made a pot of coffee then came back to the computer, checked that two minutes had passed and ran the command again
Clicking wifi icon on taskbar opens network status settings page instead of available networks 361892d1647007576t-list-availible-wifi-networks-powershell-2.png
and I then clicked as soon as I could on the Taskbar, Network icon to bring up the list

and I also ran the NirSoft WiFiInfo tool I mentioned earlier to show relative signal strengths.

Are you getting a lot of fading in & out of WiFi signal strength by any chance? Are you on 2.4GHz or 5GHz? Is fading what's leading to the symptoms you see? You can monitor fading by watching the Taskbar, Network icon or by using NirSoft WiFiInfo tool, which I find easier because [as in my illustration] it can be sorted by signal strength so you can see networks flicking up & down the list. Unable to open WiFi networks to view

Hello, I am running Windows 10 on an Asus Zenbook.

I can connect to wifi networks that were already in my set of networks; however, if I attempt to open up the list of available networks using either the icon on the taskbar or the "show available networks" link from the status menu on settings, nothing happens.
(Well, I do get a little spinning wheel for about a second when I click the taskbar icon, but nothing comes up).

I am able to see the networks with the command prompt (Netsh wlan show networks).

I do not recall when the computer last updated, but did check for updates and there are no pending updates.

I'm running Windows 10 version 1709 (build 16299.125) on an Asus Zenbook.
