Windows 10: clicklock on touchpad permanently turned on

Hello,The touchpad on my laptop Dell Vostro 5590 acts as if the clicklock were turned on - right click does not work, neither does drag to select. However, the box for clicklock function is not ticked in the advanced settings. Reinstalling the driver did not help. I am at my wits' end and I'd appreciate any help.

Turn On or Off Mouse ClickLock in Mouse Properties

The ClickLock should hold for you until you click/tap on the primary button.

Since it sounds like you're using a touchpad, it may be best to turn off "tapping" for it to avoid easily releasing ClickLock. This way you would actually have to press the left button on the touchpad to release instead of a mistaken tap.

I apologize for not addressing you in a timely manner. Let me help you in resolving the issue.

The issue could because of incompatible touchpad drivers on the computer.
I suggest you to troubleshoot on this issue by reinstalling the drivers for touchpad and check the issue:

Un-install and re-install touch pad drivers from the manufacturer’s website and see if that helps:

Step 1: Un-install the drivers.

• Type device manager search box and hit enter.
• Right click on the touchpad drivers and select
  Uninstall.
• Restart the computer once it is uninstalled.

Download and install the latest touchpad drivers for from manufacturer’s website in compatibility mode. Since drivers are not available for Windows 10 you can install the available drivers on manufacturer website in compatibility mode.

Step 2: Follow the steps below on how to install driver in compatibility mode:

• Download the driver from the manufacturer’s website and save it on your local disk.
• Right click on the setup file of the driver and select “Properties”.
• Select “Compatibility” Tab.
• Place a check mark next to “Run this program in Compatibility mode” and
  select operating system from the drop down list.
• Let the driver install and then check the functionality.

ClickLock on Windows 11 won't turn off.

I'm using an ASUS laptop with Windows 11 and I've been encountering a problem with ClickLock. I've tried going to the mouse settings, trackpad settings, and even going to the additional mouse settings to turn ClickLock on and off, but it won't work. I have a feeling that this has been turned on automatically and I can't turn it off even if ClickLock is off in the additional mouse settings. Unchecking has no effect at all, leaving my mouse to drag and highlight everything even if I don't want it to.
