Windows 10: Clicks not registering after typing

I'm finding that I have to click 2 times after typing for the click to register.

This occurs in windows apps, but not windows controls (start menu, etc). So, text editors, word processing, spreadsheets, browser all have this issue. If I haven't typed, clicks operate normally. It doesn't seem to matter which application I'm using.

Note that this is Win10 on a Dell Precision 3510. I'm using touchpad with tapping OFF, and also the point stick / buttons OFF. So I'm using the touchpad buttons. Pressure has no effect; the buttons work fine. It appears to be a software issue, but from what I have no idea.

@Bree - yes, I'm quite aware of this thanks, but as you will see it's missing. I recall reading that clicking the dialogue at a certain point in blank space made it appear, and trying that once successfully, but doesn't seem to help now. Plenty of other similar reports of this option being missing.

Why can't I click inside Start Menu?

You may also follow these steps to resolve your concern:

• Right-click on Start menu.
• From the options, select Command Prompt (Admin) by clicking it.
• Type in Powershell and then press Enter.
• Copy and paste this on the Powershell application
  Get-appxpackage -all *shellexperience* -packagetype bundle |% {add-appxpackage -register -disabledevelopmentmode ($_.installlocation + “\appxmetadata\appxbundlemanifest.xml”)}
  and press Enter.
• Wait for the process to finish, close all of the open windows and check your Start menu if it's working properly.
