Windows 10: " client settings need to be updated to Microsoft Exchange" Why? I'm using Gmail

Suddenly I can't send an email and am getting "client settings need to be updated to Microsoft Exchange" Other than Windows I'm not using any Microsoft products as far as I know. Strictly Chrome and Gmail. It asks for my Microsoft 365 address, which I've never heard of and probably don't want. What to do?

how to make gmail as the default email client in win 10

when I try to set gmail as my default client in win 10 I do not see the app listed in the default list in the "defualt programs" list. How do I set up gmail as the default email client?

 

Outlook 365 Exchange - how to change existing POP Gmail to IMAP

Windows 10 x64, Office 365, Outlook 365 Exchange.

Within Outlook I have a few POP3 accounts as well. One of them being a Gmail POP3 account.

I have trying to change that IMAP and went on to do the following

- go into Gmail using browser
- settings > selected ENable IMAP + Save
- go into Outlook and wanted to create a new account (same email address)
- Outlook reported the account already existed (of course)

I assumed.. that a new account file would be created (extension .ost) that would reside next to the .pst,
similar to my Outlook account.

Have used Outlook.com on POP3 basis in the past, so I have:
Old account: username-at-outlook.com.pst
New account: username-at-outlook.com.ost

Any suggestions?

To set up an internet email account, such as Gmail, follow these steps:

• On the homescreen, select Set-up email
• Once the Set-up wizard application is running, you sho
  
  uld see a list of supported email clients – Gmail, Yahoo, Windows etc. Select the one you wish to create.
• Enter your email and password (the same one you use on your desktop)
• Done.

Setting up a Microsoft Exchange account:

• On the Mail Client list (from Step 2 in section 1) select Mail for Exchange
• Enter yoour email address, password and the domain name (eg: company.net).
• A box should appear ('Mail for Exchange Server') – enter the Mail for Exchange Server (eg: company.exchange.net)
• Once that has done you can select which items – Calender, Contacts, To-do lists – that you wish to have synced.
• Select Next and you're done.
