Clock Time/Date at Shutdown Restored on Boot

I've recently noticed a strange problem with the Windows clock. If I shut down my computer, wait any period of time minutes, hours or even days, then boot, time/date displayed will be exactly the time/date I shut down. At first I thought maybe my CMOS battery was going bad, but I have checked the BIOS time before OS boot and it is exactly correct. Somehow Windows is storing the time at shutdown and restoring it regardless of the actual hardware clock. I am not using hibernate, sleep, or fast startup. For now, I have to manually correct the time at startup, Settings->Date & Time->Sy

  2. Automatic Time and Date - anyone having issues?

    Hi Mark,

I do appreciate your efforts and time, and will assist you with the issue.

I suggest you to synchronize your computer clock with an Internet time server.

You can synchronize your computer clock with an Internet time server. This means that the clock on your computer is updated to match the clock on the time server, which can help ensure that the clock on your computer is accurate. Your clock is
typically updated once a week and needs to be connected to the Internet for the synchronization to occur.

Note: If your computer is on a domain, you can't synchronize your clock with an Internet time server.

    Please follow the steps below:

    • Open date and time by clicking on the clock at the bottom right corner of your screen.

    • Click on date and time settings.

    • In the bottom click on additional date, time and regional settings.

    • Select first option in date and time.

    • Click on the Internet time tab.

    • Click on change settings.

    • Select time.nist.gov from the drop down list.

Hope this helps in resolving the issue. If the issue persists, do get back to us. We will be happy to assist you.

Clock Time/Date at Shutdown Restored on Boot

Restoring Windows 10 Image using Macrium Reflect

In addition to the above. Here's my suggestion in step by step.
I assume you have Macrium Installed in your current HD and already made a backup copy.
    1. Connect your new HD via USB port and boot up.
    2. Run Macrium, click on Restore tab then select the Backup Image that you made to restore
    3. click on "select a different target disk" then select your new HD as destination
