Windows 10: Clock Watchdog Timeout when installing Windows

Hello,I'm trying to reinstall Windows 10 because there is a lot of clutter on my system so I thought it was time for a clearout.I have the external USB plugged in, booting to that drive, but not long after I start it will crash on me. Sometimes it goes straight to BSOD, but other times my screen is totally frozen, I can't move the mouse or tab through any of the buttons. It means I'm basically stuck trying to update my system, it never gets very far before I have no choice but to restart and try again.I think it might have something to do either how my cpu is being handled during low intensity

• What is the make and model of your computer?
• Have tried updating all the drivers of your computer?

Hi Ray,

the pc is a home build. It ran stable until the windows update and subsequent clean windows install.

I have checked in devmgmt.msc and it says all drivers are up to date.

BSOD Clock watchdog timeout Windows 10

Found my fix:

1. Downloaded a current (April 2018) ISO of Windows 10 64-bit from Microsoft

1. Downgraded product from "Enterprise" to "Pro"
   
2. HIGHLY LIKELY issue with UPDATES for Spectre and Meltdown
   

Windows now works!! those new updates are not installed yet (unless they are part of the new ISO i used.)
