Windows 10: Clone HDD with Optane Memory enabled

    Clone HDD with Optane Memory enabled


    I have a Dell XPS 8920 (circa 2017) with the Dell OEM 1TB HDD as boot drive (Drive C), and with Optane Memory enabled ("paired" to the boot drive). I also have a second internal drive, 2TB HDD. (Drive D) I want to replace the 1TB HDD OEM drive with a new 2TB HDD drive, after I clone the OEM drive. (I will temporarily remove the current 2TB "D" drive.) Assuming that I clone the boot drive while Optane Memory is enabled: 1. Do I need to disable Optane Memory before swapping the drives, or will the system recognize the cloned (2TB) boot drive after the swap? 2. If the system will reboot from the cloned 2TB replacement, will the "Rescan" process pick up the data for the new boot drive? In the image above, the "SATA (932 GB)" is the current boot 1TB HDD drive. Windows 10 Version 21H1 (OS Build 19043.1052)

    Cloning hard drive on a system with Optane Memory

    I have a Dell XPS that has 16GB of Optane Memory that is active. If I plan to remove the hard drive after shutting the PC down in order to clone it, do I need to disable the Optane Memory first so whatever is there would be flushed to the hard drive first?
    From what I've read about Optane Memory, it stores data and it doesn't necessarily write them to the hard drive when you shut down so if I disable it, it would flush the memory to the hard drive. Is this correct?

    Problem with installing windows along optane memory

    I have an Asus X510U laptop. It's specifications are given below:

    i5 - 8250u

    8gb ram (upgraded from 4gb)

    1TB hdd

    16gb intel optane memory

    It had Windows 10 1803 pre-installed, I had it updated to 1903. In December I added another 4gb ram stick but the windows was first stuck at welcome screen, after restarting it was stuck at Asus logo where it checked Windows Metadata Cache. So I re-installed
    the windows but it was not simple as i had to enable legacy mode disable secure boot and changed the hdd format . After everything appeared to be fine but the problem came when I tried to install Intel Optane Memory it said the bios configuration is not compatible.
    I tried enabling Optane memory from BIOS but after that Windows wont load the laptop straight goes to BIOS.

    Please help.
