Windows 10: Cloned dual boot SSD containing Windows 7 and Window 10 partitions fails to open Windows 10

To gain more operating space I recently cloned a Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD having two partitions one running Windows 7, the other Windows 10; both successfully to a 1TB Samsung 870 EVO SSD using Samsung's Data Migration Software which I ran using Windows 7 on the partition of the original SSD. After I was done cloning, the new SSD would start up on Windows 7 just fine, but Windows 10 would not. Upon choosing Windows 10, the computer would generate the blue windows symbol, the dots would circle around, and then the screen would go black. I could only get the system to respond by restarting it

I was having a slow boot issue on my Windows 7 install a little while back. It would take about 30 - 40 extra seconds to boot up for whatever reason.

I would try following these steps, while this didn't solve my issue, it did increase Read/Write to where it should be.

In the end, I had to reinstall my Windows 7 entirely to fix the booting issue. It was taking around 35 seconds to boot, and after the fresh install it takes about 7 seconds to boot.

 

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

windows 10 boot problems

I had windows 10 installed on my old laptop, I also had a boot problem, but my HDD just stopped spinning and I was unable to load windows.
It still had the Asus factory recovery partition which I used to reinstall windows 7.
I found out that my HDD was fine in windows 7, nothing wrong with it, staying with windows 7 SP1 on this laptop and I stay with windows 8.1 on my main laptop.
No windows 10 for me!
