  1. Cloned NVME drive not available as a boot option in UEFI

I'm trying to replace my NVME C: drive with a larger one. I cloned the partitions with Macrium Reflect using an USB NVME enclosure. When I check the cloned drive in Windows Explorer or in Disk Management all looks good. but when I replace the internal drive with the new one is doesn't appear as a boot option in UEFI, I get options for my HDD and even for my DVD ROM drive but the new drive is not there.System is Ryzen 5900x / Asrock B450 Gaming K4 / drives are WD Black

  2. bios keeps switching my boot drive

If your NVMe drive is not showing up in the boot priority list, it's possible that the BIOS settings may need to be adjusted. Here are a few things you can try:

Make sure that your NVMe drive is properly installed and recognized in the BIOS. Check to see if it appears in the list of storage devices in the BIOS.

Check to see if there is an option to enable NVMe support in the BIOS. This option may be located in the storage or boot options.

Check the boot mode setting in the BIOS. If your NVMe drive is using the UEFI boot mode, make sure that the boot mode setting in the BIOS is also set to UEFI.

Check to see if there is a firmware update available for your NVMe drive. Some firmware updates can improve compatibility with certain systems and may resolve boot issues.

Try resetting the BIOS to its default settings. This can sometimes resolve issues with boot priority and may allow your NVMe drive to be recognized.

If none of these steps work, it may be worth contacting the manufacturer of your motherboard or NVMe drive for further assistance.

  3. System does not boot after cloning SSD to NVME

I cloned my SSD to my NVME SSD succesfully, but when I am trying to boot from the NVME it will display two different kinds of error messages depending on if I am booting with Legacy or UEFI.

If I am booting with Legacy or UEFI with CSM, it will display a black screen that says:

    "Boot Device Not Found

Please install an operating system on your hard disk.

    Hard disk - (3F0)

    F2 System Diagnostics

For more information, please visit: www.hp.com/go/techcenter/startup"

If I am booting with UEFI without CSM it will say:

"No bootable image found, notebook will shutdown".

This screen is white with a blue OK button, and a HP logo on the top right. (I am currently writing this on my phone and can't upload images but will answer to any help with my computer and upload images)

Bonus info: I tried to clean install Windows 10 to my NVME with bootable media beforehand, I used an USB - but the error messages were the exact same. I could succesfully choose my NVME as the drive that Windows will be installed on, and after the part during the installation where my laptop restarted, and where you normally could remove the USB and just boot from the NVME, the error messages popped up. This led to me cloning Windows to my NVME and trying to boot that way.

Windows recoqnizes my NVME and I can change its boot order from the bios. I have no idea why this is happening. My computer is HP Elitebook 840 G2. The serial code of my laptop is "5CG5527ZD0". (It is an older laptop).

I need help badly! Out of options..

    Thanks!

Cloned NVME drive not available as a boot option in UEFI

M.2 SATA to NVME clone: Windows 10 won't boot

Problem: Windows partition won't boot after cloning M.2 SATA drive to M.2 NVME. Simply returns to BIOS splash screen are restarts boot sequence.

Background: Cloning process was simple raw dd copy. Drive had EFI, Windows 10, and Linux partitions. Cloning preserved exact partition sequence, sizes, and UUIDs.

Linux partition needed minor tweaks to /etc/fstab due to the device names being different (/dev/nvme0n1px vs. /dev/sdax), but boots fine.

The disk is GPT, and I believe the original Windows 10 was UEFI - the Linux installation definitely was.

Boot sequence brings up Linux 'grub' menu first. Choosing the EFI partition then brings up Windows EFI boot menu. Fresh Windows install (see below) boots fine from here, old install fails.

Attempts at solution: I did a fresh Windows install in a spare partition and it boots fine. Using the new Windows installation, I've edited the BCD entry for my original Win 10 install. I have
the correct BCD device, osdevice, and path.

    Questions:

    • What else needs to be done to make Windows boot again?
    • Are there any config file or registry changes that need to be made to account for the SATA to NVME move?
    • How do I see boot error messages for a UEFI boot failure? No errors displayed and no log files that I can find in Windows or EFI partitions...
