Windows 10: Cloned Win10 OS Boots to Desktop -- until 3rd or 4th reboot, then black screen

I used disk images to clone an older win10 laptop OS to a newer laptop with different hardware. I know it's unwise, apologies, but I put many many hours put into customization of fussy customer's computer. When I did it with Acronis without Universal Restore -- UR was not avail since computer wouldn't boot from the usb stick, IT WORKED! Everything worked, except some of the drivers were missing so I installed them from the backed up FileRepository folder. I rebooted -- Again, back to desktop. Dev Mgr showed all drivers loaded, none missing. But upon the third reboot, after selecting

Gtx 460 black screen issue

I have an EVGA gtx 460 that has started acting odd. Every once in awhile I would get a black screen that would require a hard reset. Then eventually the other day, it wouldn't boot at all. It would boot to the windows logo and then black screen.

Replaced it with a spare card, booted up fine.

Put the 460 back in, black screen.

Booted in safe mode, boots fine.

Uninstalled driver and reboot to full windows... boots fine with no driver installed.

Reinstalled latest driver (was already on latest driver when this started) and rebooted. Black screen.

Booted into safe mode and uninstalled driver again.

Reboot to full windows, install old version of driver, reboot. Black screen.

Reboot to safe mode, uninstall driver, reboot to full windows install reeeeeaaally old version of driver. Reboot. Black screen....


So... the only time the card works is when there is no nvidia driver installed... weird.


Anybody got any ideas? I haven't tried testing it in a clean windows install yet, but that's my next step I guess.

Azure AD joined

Will try steps above. This is the 4th Dell Laptop to have issue - rebuilt the others. this one for some azure does not have the bit locker key so limited in what i can try.

Checked all others on domain and they have bitlocker keys. If it happens again I will try what you suggest.

 

Win10 Boot Problem on cloned SSD drive

My problem is there are no Error Messages. I now get a blank black screen when I boot to the D: drive in the BIOS. In earlier tries I BOOTMGR not installed message on the black screen, but not now? My C: drive boots still boots with no problems. I have inserted a screen shot below of Win10 Disk Manager. It shows that d: drive does not have BOOTMGR installed. I have tried several clone methods using both Macrium Reflect and Disk Manager. In the instructions (or YouTube), the cloned disk(s) boot immediately without having to install BOOTMGR. I have no idea what I am doing wrong. I am still working to get Boot Corrector installed and working. Thank you.
