Windows 10: Cloned Windows 11 Hard drive gives kernel security failure error on boot, cannot even get...

Just cloned a laptop hard drive using an external offline block cloner. The clone completes and when I try to boot the drive I get the Kernel security failure bluescreen.I have tried disabling bitlocker and recloning but no avail. If I connect the cloned drive to a PC via USB I can see the files and partitions no problem.

Kernel Security Check Failure error

My win 8.1 laptop is giving Kernel Security Check Failure error at random and laptop keeps rebooting. Pl suggest how to fix this

I understand that you are facing issues while booting Windows after cloning hard drive from an older PC.



As you have mentioned that, you have dual boot setup on the new PC, and Linux is booting fine but Windows is giving error. The new PC will not boot Windows, because Grub is not configured with Windows.



I suggest you to post your query on

Kernel security check failure after ram upgrade

I just experienced the same problem with a Sony Vaio running Win10. I replaced the 4Gb of RAM with 8Gb of RAM. The RAM is matched to the MB. On boot Windows starts initially and then defaults to error screen with Kernel Security Check Failure. Setup correctly
identifies the 8Gb of RAM. This must be a Microsoft security feature to prevent motherboard upgrades. Any suggestions short of re-installing Windows?

I replaced my Win10 hard drive with my old Win7 hard drive and everything boots up successfully. This would confirm that the problem is with Windows 10 and not the new RAM.
