Windows 10: Cloning Hard Drive with Windows 10 Anniversary Edition

I just upgraded drive from 1 TB to a 2 TB. I tried 2 ways using Acronics True Image 2015 retail & one off the drive manufacture site which is Western Digital.
I did a clone & all went well but I lost my restore points & why didn't it copy them? When I click system restore in new cloned drive I see my C drive 2x one active & other says (missing). When I first booted into the new cloned drive I saw Blue Screen something about memory management but it didn't create a mini dump file & rebooted normally rest of the time. Only other thing was Google Chrome account got messed up but deleted it & logged in Google account again. Is this normal behavior for a drive clone? I still have old drive in case something not go right but so far all fine except this. I also tried system image but on the new 2 TB there was over 1 TB of raw space & had to partition it & not want to to that.

Upgrading Windows 10 Solid State Drive

Windows 10 Anniversary will not install because I don't have enough free space. I purchased a larger SSD and used Macrium Reflect to clone the new hard drive partitions. The new drive does not boot. Is there any way of doing this, short of installing
Windows 10, then the anniversary update, and then all the installed Program Files?

 

Windows 10 Installed on Wrong Drive

you can directly
clone windows 10 hard drive to SSD. To successfully clone windows 10 hard drive to SSD, you need to pay attention to the following things:

1. before you start to clone, you need to take out extra hard drive. This can avoid your cloning windows 10 on the wrong drive.

2. after you clone, you need to install your SSD on the location of HDD and change boot order via BIOS.

 

I haven't used Acronis software for a while since their backup software left low drivers after uninstallation which were very hard to remove.

I suggest you try using Macriun Reflect Free used by most people on this forum. Select the option to backup all the partitions to restore Windows. It's normally best to image your system rather than clone if you have a spare disk for imaging.

When you boot from the new drive for the first time, it's also best to only have the system disk installed to avoid boot problems. Also, check when all drives are connected that you only have one active partition on your system disk and change all others to inactive (unless you have a fancy dual boot PC).

 

I tried Macriun Reflect same thing did not copy the Restore Points. Apparently after researching this is normal as it's to do with sectors are different on larger drive. I used a image but the drive has to be the same size or you have raw partition.
