    Good morning, I need some advice on cloning identical laptops same brand, same specs, etc.. I read online that I need to run Sysprep before cloning so that the SID will not be duplicated. However, I’m encountering an issue where Sysprep always fails on Windows 11 version 24H2. It seems I need to remove every OEM app that causes errors in the Sysprep logs.Is there a way to run Sysprep without having to uninstall all the OEM apps one by one?I’m using Macrium Reflect to clone the systems. The laptops are Lenovo ThinkBook 14 running Windows 11 24H2 Home. I want to generalize the image using Sysp

    Access to cloned HD

    Hi Dave,

    I used Macrium Reflect (MR) to clone the SSD. It is quite possible the cloning operation did not succeed in creating a bootable drive. I have used it successfully in the past for several clones. How can I determine

    • if the boot instructions came over with the clone?
    • or should I try cloning the drive again?
    This computer is a Dell refurbed workstation and I am uncertain if it was set up in a RAID configuration although it came with only 1 rotating hard drive.

    Moving to SSD. Clone or not to clone?

    Part of how I keep my SSD fast is to clone it to a platter drive, then clone back. You just want to make sure that you are only cloning teh used space, and not the empty space.


    So, again, I isntall Windows to the ssd. Clone to platter drive, then clone back.

    I am not sure why, but if I do not do the clone step, the drive's speed, and windows booting, decreases substantially within a week or so.

    I am using a Corsair F60 SSD and a Western Digital 500AAKS as drives, and using the free version of Acronis that WD provides, if any of that matters. I am not sure, at this point.

    Cloning an external HDD

    Doing a clean Install while switching hard drive is always recommend due to the fact that the hardware configuration of each PC is different.

    What I suggest is to Clone the other data partitions except C:

    Use Macrium reflect a freeware for this.
