Windows 10: Closing the lid of my laptop turns off my external monitor display 30 seconds later

When I close the lid of my laptop LG Gram17 running Windows 11, the display of the external monitor I am using will go black, exactly 30 seconds after the lid is closed. My "Closing the lid" settings are both set to "Do Nothing" on battery and plugged in. It also occurs on a different monitor. The laptop doesnt appear to go to sleep as any music I'm playing continues to play through the external monitor's speakers. Any suggestions please - it's very frustrating. Thanks!

Yep. The computer remained and I could use the external monitor. But all windows on the laptop screen moved over. Currently when the lid is closed, the windows remain on the laptop screen which is then "off"

 

Windows 10 sleeps when using external monitor and closing the laptop lid.

Before we assist further, I would like to ask you a few questions:

• Have you set Sleep function to activate on closing the laptop lid?
• Did you check if the laptop goes to sleep when not connected to external monitor and lid closed?

To respond to your questions

(1) I have set the sleep function to operate on laptop lid close only when the laptop is on battery power. When it is plugged in I have set it to do not sleep ever.

(2) I have tested that it does *not* go to sleep when I the laptop is plugged in and I close the laptop lid

Further information:

(1) When I first turned the laptop on I attached it to the monitor and closed the lid. It then ran successfully for approximately an hour before hibernating.

(2) I then restarted the system, external monitor plugged in, lid closed and it went to hibernate after approximately 2 minutes.

 

Laptop, Dual Display, Lag with closed lid

Hi,

I just bought some monitor to use with my Dell laptop and connected it through the HDMI port of the second graphics display. The problem is that when I close the lid, the laptop automatically turns off the laptop display and stops using the internal video card which leads to minor lag when using the new monitor with only the second graphics display being active.

Obviously the solutions are:
1) Somehow force the internal video card to still be used
2) Stop the turning off of the laptop display when the lid is closed (I don't have such option in control panel -> power options)

Any ideas how to go fix this besides not closing the lid at all?
