Closing the lid on my Surface Pro 9 - Am I asking too much?

I have a Surface Pro 9 running Windows 11 Pro, which I access remotely most of the time via the Microsoft App formerly Remote Desktop. Attached to the Surface Pro SP is an external monitor, via a Microsoft Dock. When I'm working directly on the SP, the external monitor goes into standby mode when I close the lid, but only if I select "Sleep" in the "Change what closing the lid does" option. This is fine, until I want to access the SP remotely, because when it's in standby the Microsoft App can't connect to the SP.If I change the setting to "Do nothing" and close the lid, the external mo

  2. Surface Book with Windows 10 - Wifi disconnects when lid is closed

I have the i7 Surface Book (8GB/256GB), and have this same problem.

WiFi is set to stay on during sleep, and the Surface Book is set to stay on when the lid is closed and running on mains power.

I have a strong signal and am 4 metres from my router. Once the lid is closed, first the WiFi says there is no internet connectivity and then after another few seconds it disconnects entirely.

On the network list the signal is still full, however it asks me for my password and never connects while the lid is closed.

Open the lid again, and it reconnects and everything is fine. For now it sits open on my desk, but I bought this to use as a desktop most of the time and this is not how it should be functioning.

I would appreciate some help with this. It happens every time I try this, and is souring an otherwise great user experience.

  3. Microsoft Surface Pro 3

Hi! My name is Miguel and I'll be able to help you out!

This is my first experience with surface pro, but here's what you can really do. If it doesn't work, I will still be able to find the way to help you out. Here are the steps:

    1. Press Win + X and select "Power Options" at the top of the list.
    2. A "Control Panel" window should open. Select "Choose what closing the lid does" in the top left corner.
    3. Change the options for "When I press the power button," "When I press the sleep button," and "When I close the lid" to "Sleep" if they are set to anything else.
    4. Select "Save Changes" at the bottom.

This should help. if it doesn't, I will still be able to help you out. Let me know how it goes. Thank you!

  4. Closing the lid on my Surface Pro 9 - Am I asking too much?

Choose what closing the lid does

    Hello!

I have two monitors connected to my Surface Laptop and I have "Do Nothing" selected for all settings, however when I close the lid on my surface laptop the screens hibernate.

Any suggestions on how to fix this so the screens stay awake?
