  1. CLSID error for DCOM server application, machine default permission since October

    I've been having this event on repeat since October and it just won't fix itself, I have other errors such as :- "The shadow copies of volume C: were aborted because the shadow copy storage could not grow due to a user imposed limit."AND Name resolution for the name static.nvidiagrid.net timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded.There are other similar errors, but it's mostly this CLSID error that

  3. The machine-default permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID

    <Original title: system crashing>

    my system keeps crashing, and ive looked in the event logs and the only thing close to the crash time is this :

    The machine-default permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID

    {C2F03A33-21F5-47FA-B4BB-156362A2F239}

    This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool.

    Any suggestions ?

    it happens when I'm running my home studio, but the crash is related to Cortana ?

    peace hope love

  4. CLSID error for DCOM server application, machine default permission since October

    The machine-default permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server

    I'm getting a lot of these type of errors in the event log:

    The machine-default permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID

    {C2F03A33-21F5-47FA-B4BB-156362A2F239}

    and APPID

    {316CDED5-E4AE-4B15-9113-7055D84DCC97}

    to the user Buddy\Norm SID (S-1-5-21-1876664235-1231514494-3974065227-1001) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC) running in the application container Microsoft.Windows.Cortana_1.6.1.52_neutral_neutral_cw5n1h2txyewy SID (S-1-15-2-1861897761-1695161497-2927542615-642690995-327840285-2659745135-2630312742).
    This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool.

    I've gone through various posts suggesting taking ownership of the .reg entry for the CLSID and I think that I've done that. Then I run DCOM service manager as Admin as advised in order to change the permissions. However, all the permission settings are
    greyed out and I can't figure out what to do to enable editing. Also, even if I could get the settings un-greyed, what would I set them to?

    This sure seems like a problem somewhere in the system that is being exposed. There's too many entries on the web complaining of this problem for it to be an isolated case.

    Also, in looking at the error message, I can't tell what the underlying culprit is. Is it the CLSID? Is it the user permissions? Is it something to do with the application container (Cortana)?

    I've run SFC. I've reset my Win 10 via system recovery.

    Any clues of how to resolve this?

    Microsoft, are you looking into all these reports of COM server permission errors?
