    CMOS procedure

    Hello
    Dell XPS 8300

I have tried to gently remove that CMOS battery but I cannot get it out. I don't want to press on the board to pry and I don't want to damage the clip as it is the positive piece for continuity.
The manual is of no detailed help. It seems it is something you luckily do, or break.
Has any one confronted this type of clip?
Is looks a bit like a spring. I don't now if I should press on the piece outside of the battery to lift it or with a fingernail pick it up on the battery side where it is held down.
I have tried pushing and pulling to no avail.
Has anyone had any actual experience with this?
All the videos and tutorials have not been of any help.
    Thank you
    Peter

    :)

    Multiple Blue screen errors

    Hi,

I didn't realize that this was a laptop...

I did some checking for your model at Samsung and there is not much I could find other than a manual... Which doesn't appear to the needed info...

I also didn't have much luck looking elsewhere, but found a few things in common with Samsung laptops...

The CMOS battery is on the other side of the mother board that you would normally see..

And the CMOS JUMPER may be under the memory or HDD...

Here is a link concerning how to do this, but for a different model...

I don't think it is necessary to Remove the CMOS Battery to do the procedure... I have never had to remove mine...

Look at the second reply at this link...

You probably mean the "BIOS Setup" screen. Clicking Shift+Restart will give you many startup options. Try the BIOS setup option or the UEFI option. On most machines you can press a special key at boot time, e.g. Esc, F1, F2, F12 - if you're quick!

This is as close as I could find but it does not address the spring clip. This is straight forward.
Mine has a clip with a spring i it that is on the edge of the receptacle and extends onto the battery. i don't know whether to push or pull. I wish mine was like this one.

So at about 4.23 into the movie, the guy in the video uses the point of a ballpoint pen to press down on a spring on the battery housing, and the battery pops out.

Does this happen for you, repeating his actions?
(Push away from the centre of the battery.)

I'm OK now as I found that you push the clip away from the battery and it pops out. That clasp could be approached in many ways. I now see the right way.
    TY for your kind patience.

Take a small screwdriver the kind they use for tightening up bows on glasses and slide it
against the edge where the spring is, straight down. Then gently turn the screwdriver upwards at a slight 45 degree angle. It will pop out, done it many times. The fit is tight just be gentle.

    >>So put the screw driver between the battery and the clip holding it down and turn it .
    Is this the right place?
