Windows 10: Code 43 'The USB set address request failed'

I am trying to connect a new high speed CFExpress Card Reader Delkin DDReader-54 to my Windows 10 with all updates, 64 bit PC, USB 3 port, and get the following error:

"Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. Code 43
The USB set address request failed."


I have tried uninstalling this bad device and running a new Device Scan, but the error reappears.


I have two USB 3 ports on my PC, and they both give the same error.


However, if I use a USB 2 cable, in the Device Manager, Storage Controllers, a 'USB Attached SCSI UAS Mass Storage Device' is properly installed and the the reader works at USB 2 speeds. This is much too slow for my needs.


I have tested my USB 3 ports on the front of my PC and they both work correctly with a Kingston 16GB USB 3 memory stick. I do not have any other USB 3 devices.


I have tried three different USB 3 and 3.1 cables and they all give the same error.


Then, tried the DDReader-54 on my laptop, and it works properly when connected with a USB 3 cable to a USB 3 port. The only difference I can see in the Device manager is that my PC has a second USB SCSI device and the laptop does not. The first USB SCSI device is a USB 2 device.


I have verified that I have the latest device drivers.


Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be?

Maybe it's time to step back from the current efforts, and start over. I suggest you read over this excellent tutorial and try all of its steps: [Solved] Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed) for Windows 10 - Driver Easy. The one that may provide you with some easy relief is the one where you uninstall the device whose descriptor is failing, reboot, and see what happens when device enumeration recurs during boot-up. If you're lucky, it will fix itself.

Code 43 USB device not recognised

Thank you for posting in Community, we understand your concern and we will try our best to help you resolve the issue.

Error Code 43 is a Device Manager error that means the following:

Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43).

When you get this error with USB devices it’s because one of the drivers controlling the device notified the operating system that the device failed in some manner. This can be because of corruption in one of the loaded drivers and the driver cache just
needs to be flushed. An alternative to resolve this issue is to perform
Power Drain, to do so follow the steps below

• Unplug the charger and remove the battery of your laptop, if using a desktop remove the power cord.
• Press and hold the Power button for 30sec.
• Plug the charger/power cord and restart system
