Windows 10: Code 56 Issue-WiFi Adapter

Hello to the Forum. My PC has developed an issue with the WiFi Adapter, the Code 56 syndrome? It came about a couple of days ago when I was attempting to improve the download speeds, I have a reasonable Broadband speed, 65-70 Mbs, but downloads are appalling, so I thought I would start with investigating and upgrading the drivers, I do this on a regularly basis, so I didnt hold out much hope, still it was a start, I did the Bluetooth driver first. I have a TP-Link adaptor, so I downloaded the driver from their site and proceeded to install. During the process, I was informed that the existing driver should be deleted first, which was automatic in the installation process. A further message came out, Unable to find your adapter, make sure it is installed, it was, but I could not proceed beyond this point. I checked the Device manager, checked properties, and there was the message. Windows is still setting up the class configuration for this device (Code 56) A search on the internet cleared showed this to be a problem for which there doesnt appear to be many successful repairs, the remedial efforts I have carried out are as follows without much success.: 1. Ran the Network Trouble shooter. No effect. 2. Network Reset. No Effect 3. Uninstall VPN. My Virus software had installed a VPN, dont think it was working but I deleted it anyway. No Effect 4. Uninstall last windows update, the problem occurred about 24 hours after the issue, but there was no effect. 5. There are suggestion that a Clean Install should be carried out and resetting the BIOS but Im not sure I really want to go down that rout Further info. The adapter is not live, ie there is no flashing blue light. The adapter is unable to identify any networks. The last recommendation suggested was Restoro? WiFi adapter disappears: No WiFi

Thank you for your reply Aster. I followed the instructions from the link you suggested.

The "DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth" command ended with 100% ===== display.

The "sfc /scannow" resulted in "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations."

I tried to uninstall the WiFi adapter and installed again but still get the "Code 56" error and get the yellow mark. There is no WiFi adapter in "Network Adapters" and so no WiFi connection.

Please help.

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps.

• 
  Press Windows + X.
  
• 
  Select Device manager
  
• 
  Next select ‘Network Adapters’ and under it, you will find a Wi-Fi controller listed. Select it.
  
• 
  Double-click the controller to open the adapter’s Property window and switch to ‘Drivers’ tab
  
• 
  Next, click the ‘Disable’ button and hit ‘Ok’ to apply the changes. See if it helps
  

Method 2 : Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with Internet connection. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue
is with your internet.

Refer these steps:

• Press Windows key +X, select Control panel

• Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons
• Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel
• Run the Internet Connection troubleshooter

Method 3.

Try updating the Network Adapter drivers from the manufacturer's website and check if the issue persists.

Follow the steps to update the Network Adapter drivers:

a. Press Windows key + X key and click Device Manager.

b. Expand Network Adapter.

c. Right-click on the Ethernet and click on Update driver software.

d. Restart the computer and check.

As of now, I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if that helps.

• Press "Windows" + "X" and select Device Manager.
• Click on View and select show hidden devices.
• Now expand Network adapters, you will see the
  wifi adapter .
• Enable it by using right click option.
