Viewsonic led monitor on an nVidea 750Ti card with Win 10

Try as I might I can not get a decent desktop color adjustment that also work well with my photo software. The images below show this. The differences here don't seem that big but the screen capture is responsible for that. In real life the lighter one is clearly too contrasty and the Lightroom image and indeed the program itself is clearly too dark.

I have used Color Munki Smile to calibrate the monitor which is fine for Lightroom but hopeless for the desktop. I have fiddled with the nVidea control panel settings too.

Lightroom and Photoshop need to show accurate gamma and color for my work of course but then the desktop apps like Explorer and browsers look awful. The software is always set to ProPhoto RGB and in the past was no problem. Something has changed and I don't know what.

There doesn't appear to be a ProPhoto RGB profile available in my Win 10 Color Management settings, is this the problem? Where can I find it?

    :)

A screen capture shows us nothing as the colors on my color calibrated monitor will look at how I set them to be. *Wink

What color calibrate hardware tool are you using? What is the make and model of both monitor? Remember, every single monitor slightly differs even if it is the same model number.

When you colour profile the monitor that profile should be in Windows Colour Management. Also what version of win 10 are you using. There has been some reports on MS's site that after the Fall update icc profiles no long work.
I use both Lightroom and Photoshop but my Eizo CG275W has no problem because it doesn't use the graphics card LUT. That means I can switch to any PC and still keep the correct colour profile without the need to recalibrate.

I'm using Insider 17035. My profile is by Munki Smile. It's just that when it's OK for correct rendering of images in LR & PS, Win explorer and browsers, rendered by windows, look awful. As if windows is ignoring the icm. Or I've set up something wrong!

You will need to explain how you go through your calibration process in detail. Also what version of windows was working ok with your profiles

Using the calibration software with the Munki automatically installs the ICM it creates as the default profile for the monitor. There is no need for the user to do anything. I was previously running the Fall Creators update.
