    Color printer issue


    My color printer suddenly doesn't print in color. Seems to be set in something called "one cartridge mode". I've never seen this before and have no idea how to fix it. Where can I change this to two cartridge mode? Is this possible?

    There are some possible reasons why we are experiencing this problem:

    • Printer running low on ink
    • Outdated printer driver
    • Issue with a Color profile

    Printer Color Issues With Magenta

    Hi bigpigger,

    Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

    To have a better clarity on the issue and guide you accordingly, kindly help us with the following details:

    • What is the exact model number of your printer?

    • Are you aware of any changes that happened on the computer prior to which this issue started occurring?

    The issue could be due to the dusty magenta toner mirror interfering with the color quality or the printhead failure. You may want to clean the mirror for magenta toner using a dry cotton bud and see if the color qualities are restored.
    Please get in touch with
    Contact HP Customer Support     to know how to disassemble the product and locate the mirror for magenta toner.

    If the issue persists and if the printheads were cleaned manually, I suggest you to clean the printhead several times from the setup to restore the color qualities.

    Follow the steps listed below to clean the printhead:

    • Press Setup on the printer control panel.

    • Select Tools by using the down arrow button and press
    OK    .

    • Select Clean Printhead by using the down arrow button and press
    OK.

    If that doesn’t fix the issue, wait for 30 minutes and clean the printhead again.

    If the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure. I suggest you to service your printer. Go
    to HP Customer Support to schedule a product repair or replacement.
