Windows 10: Color Printing Settings

Discus and support Color Printing Settings in Windows 10 Customization to solve the problem; I am unable to print in color as of recent and when I attempt to change the printer's settings, there is no option whatsoever to select color printing....     Color Printing Settings


    I am unable to print in color as of recent and when I attempt to change the printer's settings, there is no option whatsoever to select color printing. I have read multiple Q&A pages advising to go to certain menus to change the settings, however, none of the options are actually available for me to select or change.


    If needed, I have an HP All in One 4250 printer. It printed in color just fine until a couple months back. Test pages show color, this is only an issue printing from Microsoft Applications such as Word. There are brand new ink cartridges in the printer and I have tried to update settings within both Word and my printer itself.

    Thank you for posting your concern in Microsoft Community and welcome to the Windows 10 Family.

    From the description provided, I understand that the images printed in Windows are in black and white format.

    To be able to assist you better, let us know if you are able to print documents in other formats in color format.

    As an initial recommendation, I suggest you to open the Print dialog box in Windows to access the settings for color profiles used in printer.

    • Use the keyboard shortcuts Windows Logo + R to open the Run Command Dialog box
    • Type in the command: shellColor Printing Settings :printersFolder
    • Right-clicking on the printer and open the printer preferences, where you can choose options such as paper size and layout.

    • Select Print color which gives you options for Color or black-and-white (grayscale) prints.

    Original solution suggestion worked. Set to solid color orange for black. I wish there was a way to lock the color of printing preferred. Thanks. Lyndon Leining

    Although printer states it's printing in color, and it shows up in print preview, pages are only printed in black and white. This started with Windows 10. It was working fine prior to that. Any suggestions?
