  1. Columns in folder in Windows 11

I'm trying to change the columns in my folders in Explorer. In Windows 10 there was a "choose options" mini-window. I found its equivalent in Windows 11, but the changes I make won't stay. Every time I close the folder, it reverts back to what I don't want. How do I fix it so my stuff stays the way I want it to?

    :)

To resolve the issue with column heading on File Explorer, we suggest to follow the steps below:

    • Click on the View Tab.
    • Click Folder Options.

    • Click Apply to all folders.
    Keep us posted.

    Regards.

    Number of Folder columns

    Hi mlassiter

The first thing to do is to make that File Explorer window wider by clicking and dragging the edge of the window.

If you want to see more columns containing more folders and files, click View and set Layout to List.

Columns in folder in Windows 11

    Number of Folder columns

I had something very different happen, and I don’t know how, on my Microsoft Windows 10 desktop. But one result is that on displaying a folder, it shows all contents in one column instead of the multiple columns, as before. I have tried the various options under “Home”, “Share”, “View” to no avail. Can anyone suggest something?
