I'm using USB to serial adapter to connect an arm7-based evaluation board. This serial port helps me to program the said microcontroller using a utility called "ARMWSD". I was able to successfully do the said operation on Windows 10 without any problem, but in Windows 11, the same setup works for one time only. That is; I can open the com port, download my code into the microcontroller using ARMWSD., and immediately receive the pop-up: "COM Port cannot be opened". As a way around, if I unplug the USB adapter from the laptop, and plug it back again, then I am able to use the com port again fo

Unable to find USB Serial Port (Ports COM & LPT) in Device Manager Windows 11

After updating to Windows 11 I can no longer get the serial port in Ports COM & LPT from the Device Manager.

When I select Device Manager nothing shows up, I cannot see Ports COM & LPT.

These are the steps I have tried:

IN DEVICE MANAGER

• View: Show hidden devices in Device Manager (nothing happens)
  
• Scan for hardware changes
  
• Action: Add legacy hardware. Used both search recommended and add manually.
  
• When trying to add Communication Port: "Windows cannot determine the settings from this device". Does not work and have a yellow warning sign. When adding legacy hardware next time it is uninstalled since it says it does not work.
  
• When trying to add Serial Port: "The installation failed because a function driver was not specified for this device instance".
  

WINDOWS UPDATE

Making sure all updates are done (both software and hardware)

No Message For Unplugging From USB Port

Hi James,

To assist you better, we’d like to know more information regarding your query by answering the questions below:

• What is the format of your USB Flash drive?
• Are you unplugging your USB Flash drive directly from the port or are you ejecting it by right clicking the USB device from My Computer?
• Are you able to see the Safely Remove Hardware icon on your system tray?

In the meantime, we can try to manually bring back the Safely Remove Hardware Window. To do so, you can follow the steps provided:

• Press Windows button + R to show the Run dialog box.
• Copy this command and paste it in the Run dialog box. “ rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL hotplug.dll “
  
• Press Enter.

That will bring up the Safely Remove Hardware dialog which you can also use to stop the USB device you want to unplug. If you will close this window, the icon will restore back to the system tray.

In Windows 11 power-saving mode, clicking the Windows Focus prompt on the lock screen will cause a system crash.

Problem description: As the title suggests.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Enter Windows 11 power-saving mode.
   
2. Click the Windows Focus prompt on the lock screen.
   

Expected result: The login screen should appear and after logging in, the browser should automatically open to view content.

Actual result: The system crashes.

Device information:

• Windows 11 version: 22H2 (22621.1413)
  
• Device: Lenovo Xiaoxin 14 Pro 2021
  
• CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800H
  

Other information:

• When plugged in, the system automatically turns off power-saving mode and cannot be turned on manually. The function works normally.
  
• When unplugged, turn off power-saving mode and the function works normally.
  
• When unplugged, turn on power-saving mode and the system crashes.
