    COM Surrogate crashes when changing network adapter sharing


    I'm having the hardest time sharing my internet connection through ethernet. My wifi network has been set to share the connection with my VOIP deskphone, and it stopped working recently.

    When I go into the Network And Sharing Center > Change adapter settings > wifinetwork (regardless of the network I'm connected to), it opens up fine. When I select to share the connection, it gives me the static IP warning, then freezes when I hit OK. After that, when I try to click on the network, it gives me the error/cannot select sound.

    I reinstalled the wifi drivers, and that didn't seem to fix it.

    Any ideas on how to get this fixed?

    Same issue - problem related to crashing com surrogate when trying to disable Sharing on the original adapter. Is there a way to remove this config manually?

    The dump file did not appear to show any loaded third party .dlls.

    The Event Logs did show warnings involving APXACC which appears to be related to AMD Quick Stream Technology.

    Is AMD Quick Stream Technology presently installed or previously installed?

    One thing you could try to isolate the issue is to use WhatIsHang to try to get more information on the hang:

    Get information about Windows software that stopped responding/freezing (hang)
