Windows 10: COM surrogate using high CPU whenever I charge my laptop

Hi Everyone,I am having an issue with the COM Surrogate process on my Dell G3 3500. Whenever I plug in the charger, the laptop fans start running excessively fast, and the COM Surrogate process consumes more than 80% of the CPU.I have ruled out issues with my power adapter, as it’s the same 130W adapter I have been using for a long time without problems. However, I suspect my laptop's battery might be the cause since it no longer holds a good charge and offers poor backup even after a full charge.I would like to permanently get rid of the COM Surrogate process interrupting my system, or at lea

Com surrogate HIGH CPU after using VLC player

After using VLC player I always end up with COM Surrogate still running after I closed VLC and using high memory and CPU.

I read about installing K-lite codecs to solve the problem but that does not make sense since VLC only uses it own codecs.

Any suggestion is very welcome.

Thank you for suggesting these troubleshooting steps. Unfortunately, starting in a Clean Boot did not resolve the issue. I remember that there were some updates available prior to this issue (KB3156421 and KB3152599) and I didn't do any major changes to
the system.

One thing that I forgot to mention in my first post, is that the high CPU usage also sometimes occurs with the "Host Process for Windows Tasks" process too. It mostly happens with COM Surrogate, but this process shows up sometimes too.

COM Surrogate high CPU usage

Hello

I saw many posts for COM surrogate using high CPU but never a case like mine.

Whenever i click end task,it restarts the process but it keeps it low (under 2% CPU)

Then every time i start Windows Media Player,both files go over 25-30% so i end up having COM and Windows Media player using 50-60% of my CPU

How can i fix this ?
