Combining 2 Partitions in Windows 10 on new laptop

When I recently purchased a VAIO Z from the MicrosoftStore I specified a 1TB SSD, however the drive came with two partitions, namely C and E. See picture attached. I want to combine the 2 partitions into one big one leaving the system partition and the recovery partition untouched.

The E drive is currently empty except for two files.

I have several partitioning apps that I could use. I am thoroughly unfamiliar with windows 10, but have experience with 7, Vista, XP, 2000, 3.5, 3.0, 2.11 and DOS 2 to 6.

Would there be any risk to the operating system, the system and recovery partition recovery if I do combine the C and E partitions? I do have a full image backup on an external 2TB drive, and also a USB PE drive and a USB recovery stick.

I don’t want to screw up the laptop so I thought I should seek council first.

Can I delete the recovery partition created as a result of upgrading to Windows 10?

    Hi,

I upgraded 3 laptops in my household to Windows 10. I noticed that on two of them (Helix 1st Gen and Yoga 2 11) a new recovery partition of about 500MB was created after the C drive (OS drive) as a result of the upgrade. It wasn't created on my 3rd laptop.
I'm wondering what's the function of this partition and if I can safely delete it.

    As I read
    here
that Windows 10 no longer uses recovery partition:

The picture below shows the partition table of the Lenovo Helix: 5 is the new partition created after the upgrade, while 7 is one that came with the laptop.

Here is a picture for Yoga 2 11: in this case 6 is the partition created after Windows 10 upgrade.

Any input would be much appreciated. Thank you!

From disk management. You have 2 SSD's, 500GB each, namely disk 0 and disk 1.

Oops on my part, I must be blind or something assuming they were all one single drive. The laptop was ordered with 1TB SSD. I will contact the manufacturer to verify. I will post back as soon as I know where we stand on this.

After typing the above response I ran Belarc and here is what it found:

1022.24 Gigabytes Usable Hard Drive Capacity
749.22 Gigabytes Hard Drive Free Space
    SAMSUNG MZHPV512HDGL*00000 [Hard drive] (512.11 GB) ** drive 0, s/n S1X1NYAG906193, rev BXW2500Q, SMART Status: Healthy
    SAMSUNG MZHPV512HDGL*00000 [Hard drive] (512.11 GB) ** drive 1, s/n S1X1NYAG906564, rev BXW2500Q, SMART Status: Healthy

I guess I don't need to call the manufacturer now. I think I will leave things alone with drive 0 as system and drive 1 for data files. I will create some doc and picture folders etc on the second drive and put some shortcuts on the desktop. Now I need to figure out how to change the default folders for docs, pictures etc. that show in "This PC" to the new ones I create on the second drive. Does this warrant a new forum post?

    Thanks.
