Windows 10: Comctl32.dll not found

I'll say. I'm not a techie but I tried whatever solution I could find but still to no avail. I'm feeling kinda hopeless rn cause I just wanted to play some games but instead of spending my evening playing games I spent it all trying to find a solution to fix this. Windows 10 COMCTL32.dll is "missing"

The comctl32.dll file is the file that represents the Common Control library in Windows.

Comctl32.dll error messages might appear while using or installing certain programs, when Windows starts or shuts down, or maybe even during a Windows installation.

I would suggest that you run the System File Checker tool (SFC.exe). It is a utility in Windows that users can scan for corrupted system files and
restore them.

It seems that you're still experiencing the concern even after installing the
KB4016635 update. You mentioned that when you open Spotify or Nero TuneItUp, you're still experiencing the COMCTL32.dll issue. Does the same scenario occur when opening other applications? To further isolate the concern, kindly boot your computer to
safe mode with networking. To do this, follow the steps found on this
link. After booting up to safe mode with networking, run your applications again to check if you'll encounter the COMCTL32.dll issue.

We understand that the System Restore did not address your concern. Like what we mentioned in our last reply, kindly check if you've already downloaded the
KB4016635 update. This update was released last March 22, 2017. To check if you've already downloaded, kindly follow the steps below:

• Click the Windows logo (Start button).
• On the lower left part of the Start menu., click the gear icon (Settings).
• Select Update & Security.
• On the left side, click Windows Update.
• Click Update history.
• Check if you can see KB4016635.

If you cannot see KB4016635 under Update history, kindly check
View installed updates. To do this, follow these steps:

• Right click Windows logo (Start button).
• Select Control Panel.
• Choose Programs and Features.
• On the left side, click View installed updates.
• On the upper right part of the window, you'll see a search box. Type
  KB4016635, and wait if the update will come up. If so, it means it is already downloaded. If not, kindly go back to Windows Updates, and then check for updates.

The reason why we're asking you to check if you've already downloaded the update is because the
KB4016635 contains COMCTL32.DLL. Once you download and install the said update, it will replace the broken COMCTL32.DLL with a new copy.
