Windows 10: Comfort Mouse 4500 Scroll Wheel Issue

When using the Microsoft Comfort Mouse 4500 on Windows 11, it is necessary to unplug and replug the USB of the mouse every time Windows launches to get it to scroll properly. This is not an issue on Windows 10, and no driver appears to be available for the mouse that I can locate. Is there a driver somewhere that will assist, or is there another solution for properly detecting the mouse when Windows launches? I have to unplug it every time there's a restart or it goes to lock screen, and while manageable it's irritating.

Microsoft Comfort Mouse 4500's scroll wheel is too sensitive

I bought the Microsoft Comfort Mouse 4500, the wired one, and the scroll wheel is absolutely over sensitive. No matter what settings I change in the software it came with and in the Windows 10 mouse settings, the scroll wheel scrolls everything way too
fast, especially in games. Are there any other settings or things I can do to make it not so sensitive? I tried setting the lines to scroll for horizontal and vertically to 1, but nothing changes.

 

Comfort Mouse 4500 scroll wheel issue

I have the mouse less than a year, and it behaves as if the scroll wheel is depressed, causing Windows to engage the scroll mode.

The scroll wheel also seems to hit the top of the mouse buttons, which interferes with usage.

I need warranty service, but am not able to get through on the support page. Both chat and callback features result in an error page.

What are my options? There has to be a way to get in touch with someone to get the mouse replaced.

How do I reduce sensitivity of scroll wheel on Comfort Mouse 4500?

I just purchased a new Microsoft Comfort Mouse 4500 a few days ago. I'm finding it anything but that. The scroll wheel is too sensitive. I a cannot make just one click of the wheel. Any amount I scroll is way too much. The line I'm on regularly passes
right out of sight at each attempt. My efforts to be that precise is aggravating RSI problems in my wrists and shoulders. I have the number of lines scrolled per click set at one. I have the accelerated features turned off. Is there some way to smooth
the scroll movement as well? It is so jerky that my eyes can't follow the text as it scrolls (assuming the text is even still on the same page).

I should mention that the problem is remarkably improved when I am using Chrome Browser (which has a built in scroll smoother, or is that an add-in?).
