    Visual Basic 6

    I moved this thread to "Programming & Webmastering". I suggest not to use vb6 and go with vb.net 2010 or 2012 express. I'd also, suggest if you are learning from the ground up then start with c#. *Toast :toast:

    Running Visual Studio in Windows 10

    Visual Studio Express is free and its pretty close to the Professional and Enterprise versions, but should not be used for commercial development.

    If you have a license for a commercial license, then you should install that or if you don't, go with the Express version.

    VB6 or VB.Net?

    VB6.0 = Visual Studio 6 (1998)
    VB7.0 = Visual Studio .NET 2002
    VB7.1 = Visual Studio .NET 2003
    VB8.0 = Visual Studio .NET 2005
    VB9.0 = Visual Studio .NET 2008

    Obviously, VB6 is a withering carcus... I'd use VB9.0 if at all possible but there is little difference between 8 and 9 so either are fine. 7.# is missing a lot of features I use (e.g. console color, stream.io.compression, etc.).
