Windows 10: Communication Error from Scanner to Laptop after 24H2 Windows Update

I just bought a Canon all in one printer and after setting it, and trying to scan, I keep getting an error message saying it cannot communicate with the scanner. I'm able to print documents to it, but not the scanning feature. After calling Canon's support center, they said many of the issues have risen since the latest update and for me to contact Microsoft. Can someone please help.

Computer/Scanner Communication

I have a HP laptop running Windows 10 and an Epson WF-2630 Printer/Copier/Fax/Scanner. I am able to print but unable to scan documents. I keep getting a message that there is no scanner connected to the computer. I have downloaded every update I could
find for the laptop, Windows 10 and the printer. While the scanner is now listed under printer and devices in my settings menu (it didn't initially) the computer still isn't communicating with the scan function of my printer. Any suggestions on what to do
would be greatly appreciated.

 

Epson error Cannot communicate with the scanner

My Epson (model 5620) printer is connected thru USB.

Each time I want to perform a scan I am getting the following error " Cannot communicate with the scanner.Make sure the scanner is on, correctly setup and connected with noerrors indicated.For detailed information, see Solving Problems in the User's Guide. " Switching the printer off and on and off and on initially does not help. Relaunching the scan application, stil the same error. Even tried with just re-installing the Epson scan software (though without rebooting the PC) Rebooting means saving work, exiting applications, etc. and it takes time, so I prefer to solve it without having to reboot. I believe it should work. It is really frustrating.

Then, after some time..., scanning miraculously works, without me having done anything special. Does anyone here have a clue/suggestion as to how to solve this permanently? Windows 10 x64 - there are no newer drivers/software for this older machine. The straightforward solution on the Epson site (like disconnecting USB cable) doesn't work. The ONLY way would be to un- and re-install the scanner software: shut down PC, PC boot, not connecting the Epson, install, at some point select which method, then only.. power on the printer, blah blah. Not something I am looking forward to doing at each scan attempt ..

Solution 1: Printers & scanner Settings

• Open Settings.
  
• Select Devices.
  
• Look for your scanner, then click it.
  
• Select Manage, and click troubleshooter and run the troubleshooter.
  

Solution 1: Uninstall/Reinstall device drivers

• Type Device Manager in the search box, then press Enter.
  
• Look for the driver for the scanner, then press right-click.
  
• Select Properties, go to Driver tab.
  
• Click Uninstall
  
• Restart computer.
