Windows 10: Complete Lockup w/3 or more open tabs

Every so often, while at least 3 tabs are open including Bit.ly and using the Chrome OS, my Dell laptop locks-up and I have to reboot. Any ideas why? I immediately run MSERT for 64bit but while MSERT shows 'Infections' during the scan - upon completion it shows 'None Found' yet the report repeatedly shows 'Windows Defender'.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Complete lockup no known cause

Try the methods below and check.

Method 1: I suggest you to run System File Checker, which will check your system for missing, corrupt or damaged files and attempt to fix them.

Method 2:

DISM:

If no corrupted system files were found in the previous state, then I suggest you to try the following steps:

• 
  Open command prompt by pressing Windows key + X and selecting “Command prompt admin”.
  
• 
  In command prompt, type the following commands and press Enter after each command:
  
  DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth
  
  DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
  

• 
  Close the command prompt and restart the PC and check if it works.

Command line/tab

QUESTION/suggestion:
* Why not remember the last active tab?
For example, if you are on tab 2 and close the program, then run it again, for the program to open tab 2 again. But if the -tab X command-line option is used, then the program goes to X tab, regardless of last active tab.

Does that make sense?
