Windows 10: Complicated update error

Hello.This started when I couldn't load into my computer. I turned off my computer to go rest. Came back later, it wouldn't go to the home/login screen so I turn it off again. It takes me to the "Updates are Underway" screen but after a few minutes of waiting it seemed like nothing was happening. I turn it off again, and finally get onto my home page. However, no applications were appearing in the taskbar. I try to press the windows logo key, nothing happens. I try opening up Display Settings and got the "This file does not have an app associated with it" error. I go to the little upward arrow

Resolution Suggestion:

# To resolve this problem, make sure that BITS and the Automatic Updates service are started..

A simple solution but one that works in most circumstances!

1. Click Start, click Run, type services.msc, and then click OK.

2. In the list of services, right-click Automatic Updates, and then click Properties.

3. In the Startup type list, click Automatic, and then click Apply.

4. If Service status is set to Stopped, click Start, and then click OK.

5. Right-click Background Intelligent Transfer Service, and then click Properties.

6. In the Startup type list, click Manual, and then click Apply.

7. If Service status is set to Stopped, click Start, and then click OK.

^ what they said will both work. i suggest updating directX, and in the future please try and list the exact error message... and i want a muffin.
