Windows 10: compulsory updating...

I have a win10 laptop and rarely venture into someone elses network i can use normally. I say normally as we're on a seriously expensive and very very slow metered connection. Today my laptop offered just two options when i selected shut down.1 Stop and update2 Restart and updateand sleep of course...Needless to say, I simply refuse to pay a massive amount on my metered connection and wait for ages for 'it' to do what 'it' wants! I bought this computer for ME to use. Not to simply allow it to take over and only let me use it when 'IT' lets me I can. Please - no lectures on why it needs to u

Windows 10 compulsory updates

Windows 10 updates will always be compulsory. The End. And nobody from Microsoft will read your "concerns".

 

Windows Updated(16299.309).KB4088776 Restart is required to complete.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Compulsory Update sucks

I love you guys at Microsoft for making windows 10 so cool but hate you guys for making updates compulsory. It just took me almost 10 minutes to open PC because of update. If it happens again, i'll lose my patience and I'm definitely reverting back to
8.1.
