Computer appears to be powered on, but monitor tells me no signal

Hello!I’ve seen this question asked before, but I haven’t seen anything that helped me out, so I’m going to ask it myself. When I turned on my pc today, the PC appeared to turn on, fans whirring, but my keyboard and mouse did not light up and the monitor said “no signal.” I look up help for this and I see some people say to boot into safe mode, others telling me to replace my computer parts.I’d like to try and boot into safe mode, but my question is how could I do that in this scenario where my monitor only displays “no signal?”

    :)

    Cannot connect my monitor

Describe the steps you are taking to add this monitor. It is supposed to be "plug and Play".

If you can, give us a screen capture of the message. Or the FULL and EXACT error message text.

    .

    Alternate procedure:

    • Try plugging the monitor to the computer with the power off on both the computer and the monitor.
    • Power up the monitor.
    • Power up the computer.
    .

    Tell us what happens.

  3. PC boots up but monitor shows 'no signal' and keyboard not working.

'No signal' means that your monitor is not receiving a video signal that it can display. This is usually due to one of the following causes:

1- The cable going from your computer to your monitor is loose. Power off the monitor, re-attach the cable at both end, power on your monitor. (This step is N/A if you have a laptop or an AIO.)

2- The signal your graphics card is sending to your monitor can't be displayed by your monitor. Boot the computer to Safe Mode, choose a low resolution signal, restart your computer normally, switch to the 'Recommended' resolution for your monitor.

To change the signal resolution: Start > Settings > System > Display > Display resolution.

Your problem is not related to your BIOS, unless you made changes to the BIOS yourself.

    Monitor No Signal Issue

Computer is an optiplex 7080 used for work. Monitor is LG with the only applicable port being hdmi, as the PC only has displayport available for the monitor. Connected via an adaptor from displayport to hdmi. Computer and monitor have worked fine together in the past, however after a forced restart the display only gets as far as DELL before going black with a "no signal, switching to power saving mode" message. On boot the monitor occasionally displays a message that the resolution is incorrect. Both doing nothing and attempting to adjust the resolution do nothing. No menu option aside from input is available from the point of no signal, and attempting to change the input from the monitor yields a pause and then "no signal, switching to power saving mode". Can access monitor menu for about 2 seconds while DELL is displayed, but then promptly shuts down with yet another "no signal, switching to power saving mode". Have tried many different combinations of unplugging, replugging, powering down, power cycling the computer and monitor, and yet nothing changes excepting less responsiveness.
