  1. Computer Bugging out, possibly due to corrupted drives.

Hello all, I noticed my computer acting strange earlier this week. I entered a Zoom call and my audio wouldn't be detected. Whilst trying to troubleshoot, I realized I was unable to access some Windows apps, notably the Settings app on my computer. So, I tried to restart the PC, whereupon I saw a message along the lines of "Scanning and Repairing drive", where it then finished its repair and booted me to the start screen. However, these problems persist. I tried rejoining the Zoom call, where my audio devices were once again not detected though after a few minutes, they suddenly were detecte

  2. CANNOT DELETE A CORRUPTED FILE ON MY EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE ON WINDOWS 10

    Hi Leenus,

Hard drive and other external memory storage can be corrupted on account of bad sectors which are no longer accessible or writable due to permanent damage. Your device or hard drive could also be infected by some type of malware. These are some of the possible
causes why you are experiencing the error "ERROR 0x80070570: The file or directory is corrupted or unreadable". To address this concern, we suggest performing the following troubleshooting methods:

    Method 1

Check and repair disk errors or corrupted file system. This process can fix "The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable" error caused by bad sectors, virus infection or file system corruption. To do so, follow these steps:

    • Back up all of the files on the hard drive (except for the corrupted file).
    • Using Search, type CMD.
    • From the search results, right-click on Command Prompt and then choose Run as administrator.
    • On the Command Prompt window, type chkdsk /f h: (h stands for your hard drive) and then hit the Enter key.
    • Delete the corrupted file and check if you'll experience the same error.

    Method 2

Format the hard drive. You can manually format the hard drive to permanently remove "The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable" error. These are the steps on how to format an external drive:

    • Plug the hard drive into your computer.
    • Back up all of the files on the hard drive (except for the corrupted file).
    • Open File Explorer and then click This PC.
    • Click the external hard drive's name, click on Manage tab and then click on Format.
    • Click Start and then click OK.

Keep us updated with the result.

Is My Windows 10 Corrupt - Settings Not Being Saved And Possibly More

In the post there were many reports listed so that you could read the findings.
There is corruption of the drive file system.
    There is corruption involving Avast.
On computers there should only be one always on antivirus product as the antivirus products can compete with each other making the computer vulnerable to malware.
    All AV products use drivers.
Drivers misbehave and cause BSOD. The BSOD are to protect the computer and they need to be troubleshooted.
There was a BSOD just a day before the post and you may not be seeing them due to the computer settings.

If a car drives well for 5 years and then all of a sudden needs a new engine, chassis, transmission etc one may wonder what could have happened if there was better preventative maintenance?
In a similar fashion a friend could be hospitalized and one may wonder what could have been done if there was better preventative care.
    Apply this to the computer.
You can continue to use this computer and disregard the findings or you could act upon them.
At some point there will be a decrease in performance and then there will be boot problems. Then there may be anxiety or distress until the problems are fixed.

The troubleshooting steps are organized to:
    1) check the windows operating system
    2) improve the computer performance
    3) find the source(s) of the BSOD and fix the underlying problem
    4) backup the files on the computer so that you have safety in case there is boot failure, operating system or registry corruption, malware, etc
    5) improve the settings so you get a warning or earlier warning for some computer problems
    6) prevent the loss of files that are needed for troubleshooting
    7) evaluate the hardware that may be related to the current problems ( drive file system corruption and BSOD)

So it takes time and effort to perform the preventative steps. And you now know there are problems. The problems are likely to turn into bigger problems if they are not addressed in a timely fashion.

The steps were posted in a comprehensive fashion.
You can take your time to complete the steps.
Some of the steps can be done overnight.

These are the steps that can be done while sleeping:
    1) chkdsk /x /f /r
    2) HD Tune full error scan
    3) Memtest86+ version 5.01
