    Computer Completely Unresponsive

Unsure if this is a hardware or software issue. I have a Dell Inspiron 16 running Windows 11 Home. Previously I have had issues with screen flickering, and had sent the laptop to Dell for repair. Dell sent the laptop back with the message “LCD HUD replaced,” however the issue still continues.Today I tried organizing my files and moving my textbook pdf into a folder on my flashdrive as I had done previously. For some reason this made my computer completely unresponsive. I cannot click anything and I cannot turn my computer off. I need this laptop for university and my job. I am unsure of what t

Windows Updated(16299.309).KB4088776 Restart is required to complete.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Thanks for the suggestions and for the time to respond Computer Completely Unresponsive :) Best regards.

And thanks for the tip of that program, I'll have it on my list.

  3. My computer just becomes completely unresponsive

    Hi Opeyemi,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

I appreciate your interest in Windows 10.We sincerely regret for the inconvenience caused.

I would suggest you to check for updates and make sure that your computer is installed with all the latest one available till date.

I suggest you to run System File Checker tool (SFC.exe) to determine which file is causing the issue, and then replace the file. To do this, follow these steps:

Try to run a System File Checker (SFC) scan to check for any file corruption.
SFC scan will scan for corrupt system files on the computer and repair them.

    • Press Windows key + X, click
      Command Prompt (Admin).
    • In the Command Prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:

      sfc /scannow

Please let us know if you need further assistance.

    Thank you.

    PC is completely unresponsive

Hi Jerico, I followed the steps exactly, but the windows recovery environment does not show up, instead it just takes me to the sign in screen again.

Prior to the problem I deleted some files related to my AMD graphics to install new ones, it had some hiccups but the installation was shown as successful.

At that point the computer was running fine. Then It asked me to restart my computer, and after I restarted the computer that's when everything became unresponsive.

I dont know why, but if I force shutdown and turn the computer back on theres a random chance that the computer becomes responsive again, but games run really slow. If I restart my computer again, everything becomes unresponsive again.
