Computer crashes and blue-screens after installing new RAM, Help!

Hello, I've recently been fighting my computer for the last 2 weeks. Originally it was supposed to be a simple RAM/CPU upgrade, but resulted in a huge mess...To run through the process I'll start from the beginning. My computer's old CPU was not supported by current versions of windows so before anything I try and update whatever I can to make things run smooth. In the span of an hour I update the Bios about 3 times, update some misc drivers, etc.PC of 5 years is running well and dandy. I foolishly attempt to upgrade the RAM by slotting in 2 new sticks of the same RAM I currently have running

    :)

Computer crashes and blue-screens after installing new RAM, Help!

Hello, I've recently been fighting my computer for the last 2 weeks. Originally it was supposed to be a simple RAM/CPU upgrade, but resulted in a huge mess...

To run through the process I'll start from the beginning.

My computer's old CPU was not supported by current versions of windows so before anything I try and update whatever I can to make things run smooth. In the span of an hour I update the Bios about 3 times, update some misc drivers, etc.

PC of 5 years is running well and dandy. I (foolishly) attempt to upgrade the RAM by slotting in 2 new sticks of the same RAM I currently have running. Ram goes up from two 8GB Sticks to 4 8GB sticks. Along with this I put in a new CPU.

Continue updating stuff until I'm running the most recent version of Window 10 instead of something that was almost 2 years old. Everything seems to be working fine, I work on some projects using my browser or the Gamemaker engine. After a bit I play some League of Legends game with a friend and they go perfectly fine.

Later in the day I play some more League games with friend, but mid game I get a blue-screen error. I look up the code which says "This is likely a one-time error where Windows was updating something in the background. Be worried if it happens again!"

I reopen the game and try to play again, leading to a new error. I repeat this step a few times before trying some things to fix my issues. Namely I updated to Windows 11 under the assumption that it might just be on Windows' end.

Go through all of this, try and play league again and I get another blue screen. This time though the PC starts Boot Looping, I can't get into the BIOS, Log-in, nothing. End up taking all of the new sticks out, taking out the Cmos battery, and sending my RAM to my cousin who says he'll run Memtest on them. All of the sticks come back the next day with zero errors.

Further troubleshooting and experimenting leads to realizing that I can run get the computer to boot on the new RAM sticks together. Thing is the old ones, which worked fine for 5 years, no longer work together. A single stick of either allows the PC to boot, but the two together results in the boot loop.

From here we deep dive into anything and everything I can update. Chipset drivers, Graphics Drivers, Reset BIOS again by taking out the Cmos, anything the either of us can think of. Nothing makes the 4 stick configuration work, say it's prob because the sticks have a 5 year age gap and leave the mystery of the old sticks to rot.

So I stick the new stuff in and order another new pack with the intent of refunding what's currently running my PC when it gets to my place. The new new sticks are 3600 2x16 GB, getting me back to that 32GB of RAM I was looking for. That stuff arrives today and I slot it in hoping to get the performance I've been hunting without any of the old issues.

I'm playing Valorant with my friends when the game crashes, I reopen, it crashes, I reopen, I get a blue screen. I go back to troubleshooting.

Recently I've been trying to understand stuff more in the Windows end. I ran a Windows Memory Diagnostic but its failed on two separate occasions, both of which it told me there was a hardware issue but didn't really specify anything. My PC restarts but I can't seem to find any log or results to help me.

    So, to total everything up:
    - All RAM slots on motherboard work, as shown through experiments with my Old RAM.

    - Anything I can think of has been updated (Doesn't mean you shouldn't recommend even the most basic thing you can think of, I don't care about my ego, just want help.)
    - My Old RAM sticks don't work together, but the newly purchased "Old" RAM does work together. Newest RAM works together, but crashes after starting anything "intensive".

If you need any of my specs, screenshots of msinfo, etc, just ask! I should be watching this forum like a hawk until I've got this solved! I'm sorry if I need to ask how to display something, forgive my ineptitude.

Frequent Blue Screen error on computer

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that you are receiving Blue Screen error on your computer. I’ll certainly assist you with this.

    However, please let us know:

    • When exactly are you getting the Blue Screen error?

    • What is the error message you receive?

    • Are you aware of any changes made to the computer recently?

    • What is the make and model of the computer?

I have analyzed the dump files shared by you and found that the error is caused by a Memory corruption.

I would suggest you to run a Windows Memory Diagnostic check on the computer to check test the memory installed on the computer. Refer the steps
    mentioned below:

    1. Press
Windows key + R, to open Run dialog box.

    2. Type
      mdsched and click on OK.

    3. Click on
Restart now and check for problems.

Also, if you are using two RAM sticks, I would suggest you to using one RAM stick and see if that helps.

Let us know how it goes.

    Regards,
