Windows 10: Computer crashes: Windows keeps reinstalling windows C++

Hi!


Ive been having an issue with my desktop crashing recently. I tried reinstalling windows to fix the problem, and that worked for a few days, but now the crashes continue. I dont know where to start in fixing this problem.


As the crash occurs, the whole computer will freeze up. I can click, but it doesnt really do anything. If I am on a call, I can no longer hear anybody and they cant hear me. Any game I am in freezes completely. The only way to unlock the computer is to shut it down using the power button.


On the screen, I noticed when I try to search something, the box is black? Heres a photo from my phone, as I could not take a screenshot with the computer at this time.




When I check reliability monitor after the crash, noticed it goes absolutely nuts on the reinstall of windows visual c++, along with other programs I havent touched. Such as Toonboom, Runescape etc. Here is one of the error messages


"Windows Installer reconfigured the product. Product Name: Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 x86 Minimum Runtime - 11.0.61030. Product Version: 11.0.61030. Product Language: 1033. Manufacturer: Microsoft Corporation. Reconfiguration success or error status: 0."


For the visual c++, it will reinstall versions from 2011-2019. There is just about 130 of these 'events' today alone. 50+ on other days of crashes.


Whats going on here?

[Solved] Windows 10 keeps reinstalling KB3119142

I noticed quite some time ago that KB3119142 (Update for Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Update 4 Redistributable Package) kept reinstalling itself for some reason. At least once daily. Sometimes up to several times a day. I just ignored it. It didn't seem to be doing any harm. And I figured they'd eventually fix it. Well...days turned into weeks, weeks into months, with no end to the problem in sight. It dragged on unsolved for at least the last few months. Literally reinstalling itself hundreds of(at least a hundred, felt like more) times in that period of time.

So I finally googled it a couple days ago. And just got around to fixing it today. Which appears to have worked. And it couldn't have been easier to do. I feel so stupid to have let it intimidate me for so long.*Oops!

Computer keeps crashing

when its in the l last step of installing windows vista it crashes i think its a hardware issue because the is the second disk it has done it on ( i returned the other one) any help would be great system is in the system specs its windows vista ultimate also

• Were you still able to login to the computer after it happens?
