    Computer Damaged, Trying to Use Win 10 License


    My custom-built desktop with a retail version of Windows 10 was badly damaged by lightning. I was able to salvage a few components but did have to buy a new mainboard and CPU as well as SSD. I couldn't very well deactivate Windows from the old SSD but I have the product serial number. I tried to enter it when installing from the media creation tool but it says the key is invalid. Can I deactivate it another way?

    I'm trying to install windows 10 in new computer from USB drive.

    I don't really understand what you're saying.

    You have two options:

    A) Have a previously licensed version of Windows 7 or 8 on a PC, run the GWX upgrade to Windows 10 (which then swaps your Windows 7/8 key to a Windows 10 license), then do a clean install and Microsoft will automatically license that PC provided the motherboard is installed.

    B) Have a Windows 10 license, install Windows 10 on the PC as a clean install, and input that license.

    SCCM: In Place upgrade Win 7to win 10 1903 License issue

    I was working on one task sequence for In Place Upgrade. Win 10 1709 to Win 10 1903 is working fine.

    But Win 7 to Win 10 1903 is getting failed during Upgrade Operating System step.

    I checked some of the links and added the KMS Client Keys (NPPR9-FWDCX-D2C8J-H872K-2YT43) in upgrade operating system step.

    Also added one step to run vbs script.

    But Task Sequence is getting failed at this step.

    Command line Cscript.exe c:\windows\system32\slmgr.vbs /ipk NPPR9-FWDCX-D2C8J-H872K-2YT43 returned 3221549136

    In my environment, we are using KMS and we don't have a Volume license.

    Any advise how to resolve this issue.

    Computer Damaged, Trying to Use Win 10 License

    Win 7 and Win 10 on network

    I have home network with separate modem, router, and WAP's. My Windows 7 computer does NOT list the Windows 10 computers on network computer list but the Windows 10 computers network list DO list the Windows 7 computer.

    Turned off firewalls, gave permissions, shared drives. Nothing allows Win 7 computer to access the Win 10 computers.

    Any suggestions for a fix?
