Windows 10: Computer dead. Can I move hard drive to another PC

my computer MB fried. I bought another computer and would like to mount my old hard drive as primary I have win 10 home OEM installed

Is hard drive dead

I have a Seagate NAS drive. It was accessible over the network but no longer.

I've taken the hard drive out and bought an sata to USB3.0 drive

I connect the hard drive to my PC, and boot up. It's not showing in File Explorer.

A Google suggests going to disk manager and assigning a drive letter. I've done this. Disk Manager just shows "no media" and the hard drive does not show in File Explorer.

What do I need to do to show the content of the hard drive in Windows or does this suggest the hard drive file contents can't be obtained?

 

Hard Drive Data Recovery

got a laptop pata hard drive that makes a slight constant clicking noise. hard drive is more than likely dead/dying right... i can see that partitions of the hard drive in disk management and i can see the partitions in my computer but i can't get to any of the data.

any suggestions?

 

Two hard drives dead?

Okay...got my brothers computer situated. Apparently the hard drive that I unplugged was not his game drive that disappeared. But because his Antec 900 is so cramped around the hdd area, I apparently knocked the power cable loose from his game drive which made it not show up in My Computer. Plugged the power back in and hard drive is up and running.

Now back to my 750gb. I put it back in my computer and installed Windows XP on my main 250GB drive. Dual booting that and Windows 7. The drive does not show up in either OS. *Frown

I think the drive is FUBAR. Open to suggestions though.
