Windows 10: computer freeze, hard drive 100%

okay, whatever this issue is its getting on my nerves. this never happened on any other os besides 10.

everyday at random (while gaming), ill have these freeze/hangs that boosts my hard drive activity to 100% and makes the game freeze. itll sit here for a minute or more! and its all by the process of "system". this is really annoying when in competitive gaming. or just playing with friends in general. this hard drive is very new, and it shouldnt have any problems already. i checked by disabling common features, checking my fans, checking cpu, and nothing. i check task manager and it says my hdd is at 100%. not any other ones. the ssd never has freezes, and its only freezes with games. i tried installing a game on my ssd, and my ssd had these freezes too. all from the "system" process. i dont know what this process is what it does, but its really getting on my nerves.

The issue is possibly caused by corrupted data or bad sectors on your external hard drive or could be a sign of a failing hard drive.

To better assist you with your concern, I'd like to know the following:

• Confirm which build is currently installed on your device. To check, follow the steps below:

• Press Windows key + R, then type in winver.
• Click OK.

• Have you tried plugging your external hard drive to a different USB port? Also, check if you can access the drive by plugging it to a different computer.
• What is the make and model of your computer?

Meanwhile, I'd suggest to repair the bad sectors on your external hard drive. Kindly refer to the steps below:

(Let's just assume that the drive letter for your external hard drive is E. If not, please do change it to the correct drive letter)

1. Plug in your external hard drive. Click on Start, search for
Command Prompt, right-click on it and select Run as administrator.

2. Type in the following command below and press Enter after each command:

Chkdsk /f E:

Chkdsk /r E:

3. Reboot your computer after the scan is completed.

Hard Drive's needle freezes at 100% disk usage.

I have a Acer Aspire XC 605 with an Intel Core i3 4160, 6gb of RAM, and a Western Digital 1TB HDD. Running on Windows 10 (upgraded from Windows 8.1) The problem here is whenever the disk usage reaches 100% for several seconds the needle inside the Hard
Drive would ultimately freeze (since I wouldn't be hearing the needle working but the disk still spinning) for about a minute, then it returns to normal. So as it happens, the entire computer would freeze including the mouse and the little light indicator
would stay brightly lit as the Drive freezes. I don't know what causing it and I only had the computer for a year. I've been having this problem for about 6 months. Any solutions?
