Windows 10: Computer freezes when I click on volume icon - tried all blog suggestions

This issue started a few months ago, and I have attempted all fixes I've found from Microsoft to date:


- ran troubleshoot

- uninstalled display driver

- updated display driver

- updated audio driver

- (did not roll back windows yet as guy on blog's computer went really bad)

- ran dism.exe then ran sfc /scannow with no issues found


Now at a loss. About to hand over my laptop (with this issue) to my daughter for college use...guess I'm dumping the problem on her : (


Can't believe that with so many people reporting this issue I haven't found a definitive fix....my gut tells me it's a windows update issue...BTW my version is 1803 OS Build 17224.228


Perfectly good laptop now seriously diminished....please help!

Desktop Icons Freezed

Hi ,

I downloaded an application called Fences , it a tool that helps to icon grouping on the desk top.

Soon i downloaded and installed the tool , all my desk top icons are freezed and cannot move.

The basic things are already tried like below but it doesn't work .

• Restarting the system
• undoing of auto arrange

Please suggest how to resolve this issue .

Missing Date and Time, volume and Battery Icons

Hi,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if this helps:

• Right click on the task bar and you will get a popup menu.
• Click on properties.
• Under behavior of system icons select ON for volume icon, Date and Time icon and Battery icon to always show.
• Click OK.

Desktop Icon Keeps On Moving

I see. I was using a 23" monitor before and the highest resolution was below 1080p so I guess windows remembers that monitors resolution right? I have tried de.das.dude suggestion, but everytime I turn off the computer after arranging the icons it goes back to misarranging the icons.
