Windows 10: Computer freezing and requires power button to be held down to turn off and reboot PC.

Hello. These are my PC specs:OS: Windows 10 ProCPU: i7 7700kGPU: NVIDIA 1080My computer is freezing at seemingly random times:1. Froze while playing Counterstrike 22. Froze on the main menu of Counterstrike 23. Froze while playing PUBG4. Froze while opening a new tab in Firefox5. Froze while booting the PC back up three times in a row, went to failure screen asking if I wanted to do a repair etc.6. Froze while booting the PC up less than 3 times, was able to get back to desktop7. Froze while coming out of sleep mode Roughly 4:12 pm in logsI have tried the following:Windows memory test -

Use the power button to turn off the computer at Welcome screen

I understand that you want to turn off computer at the Welcome screen using the power button.



Ideally, if no user has logged in to the computer, the computer will shut down by pressing the power button. However, I would suggest you to check the settings for power button. Refer the steps mentioned below and see if that helps:

1. Press Windows key + X, and select
   Power Options.
   
2. Click on Additional power settings.
   
3. Now, click on Choose what power button does from the left pane.
   
4. Click on Change settings that are currently unavailable.
   
5. Select Shut down from the drop down for
   When I press the power button.
   

If you are using Windows 10 Pro, you may also want to check the Group Policy Settings, refer the steps mentioned below:

1. Press Windows key + R, to open
   Run dialog box.
   
2. Type gpedit.msc and click on
   OK.
   
3. Navigate to Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Power Management\Button Settings.
   
4. On the right pane, double click on Select the Power button action (plugged in), click on
   Enabled and select Shutdown from the drop down for
   Power Button Action.
   
5. Repeat step 4 for Select the Power button action (on battery).
   
6. Restart the computer.
   

If a user has logged in to the computer and then logs off from the computer, the computer will shut down by pressing the power button. However, if a user is logged in to the computer and locks the computer using the
Windows key + L combination, the power button will not shutdown the computer. You will have to use the power button on the lock screen to shut down the computer.



If you do not see the shutdown button, please refer the article Shutdown:
Allow system to be shut down without having to log on.

Only the Power Button Wakes PC from Sleep - Laptop

• Open the Keyboard control panel item by typing keyboard into Start Menu.
• Click the Hardware tab, and then click Properties.
• Click the Change Settings button
  
  Note: This step requires Administrator access
• Click the Power Management tab, and then verify that the Allow this device to wake the computer is enabled.
• Click OK, and then click OK again.

 

A required privilege is not held by the client // help please

My problem: A required privilege is not held by the client shows up when I try to run any executable file. I am the only administrator on all household PC's. I have at least five Windows 10 PC's in the household.

For a couple of months I had my problem on only one desktop PC (v1909) which I have dealt with by using Safe Mode when I absolutely had to do so. As of today I can add one laptop (v2004) to my list with this problem. I read the one post that I could find and I tried the suggestion today on both of the problem PC's to no avail. (Tweaking.com's cautious repair tool, observing the cautious steps, and apply only the relevant fixes for permissions.) I have at least one other PC with v2004 and no privilege problem and at least one other PC with v1909 and no privilege problem.

Previously I had tried these six methods:
1. Run the Program as Administrator
2. Use Command Prompt to run the file
3. Disable The Admin Approval Mode
4. Disable UAC using Registry Editor
5. Change Sharing Permission
6. Take ownership of the Root Drive
