Windows 10: Computer Halts for no reason OS INDEPENDENT

this is an old computer, so here are my computer specs: CPU: Intel Core i7-3770 Ivy Bridge, windows loads microcode revision 0x21. 2x8GB 1333MHz RAM sticks, GTX 1050Ti 2GB, Mobo: Intel Corporation DH61WW. BIOS last updated 2 years ago, afraid to do now. 1gb Hard Drive and partitioned 250gb SATA SSD. My computer, over the last few days and the last Windows 10 Update, has been suffering catastrophic freezes. This happens typically a few handful of minutes after booting. It has happened on a clean boot with no service running, with no initializing processes, or either. I will preface this by

Run HDtune (free version) on you hard drive. but most likely that the problem. You can also test your memory with Memtest86 as suggested above
