Windows 10: Computer Hanging

Hi! I've been receiving several problems with my PC these few days. The PC would suddenly become slow, with apps all hanging, but the cursor still works fine. Its just that buttons arent highlighted when the cursor is hovering above.

After my PC failed to boot yesterday, I reinstalled Windows and all was fine until I got a BSOD memory management just now and it hung again.

I've tried: chkdsk, scannow, memory management check.

Also when I restart after something like this happens, boot speeds are unusually long and I am booting off of an SSD.

Windows 10 update hangs on downloading updates at 98%

Hi vinodh,

In step 3 you state to press enter after after each command but its written like one sentence,could you list them so we can identify each command please.my pc just hangs on "checking for updates" so i installed the win 10 updater and that just hangs on 99%
so i will try what you suggest above.

Computer hangs on startup. 100% disk usage

• Did you receive any error message when the system hangs?
• 
  Did you install any third party security application?
  

This issue may arise due to:

• Virus or Malware attack.
• Driver or application conflicts.
• Faulty hardware.

As an initial troubleshooting step, I suggest you to download and install any pending updates that needs to be installed on the computer through Windows update and check if it helps to resolve the issue.

If the issue persists, run System Maintenance troubleshooter which finds and clean up unused files and shortcuts and performs maintenance tasks.

Press Windows key and type Troubleshooting.

Select Troubleshooting and hit Enter.

Click on View all in the left pane of the window.

Select System Maintenance.
