  1. Computer has to restart completely in order for WiFi icon to even show up.

    Hello. I have to re-boot my entire computer in order for the Wi-Fi icon to even show up. This happens every day. Is this normal for me to have to do? I was expecting to open up my computer and have access to Wi-Fi without having to reboot my computer. I have a Gateway Notebook Laptop. In the morning, there is a globe icon with a crossed-out circle on the bottom right next to my battery life icon. I click on it, it brings me to trouble shooting. i do the same thing, try to turn on Wi-Fi, will not work. I have to re-boot my laptop. Is this normal?

    :)

    Windows Updated(16299.309).KB4088776 Restart is required to complete.

    Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

    Thanks for the suggestions and for the time to respond Computer has to restart completely in order for WiFi icon to even show up. :) Best regards.

    And thanks for the tip of that program, I'll have it on my list.

  3. No WIFI icon in windows 10

    So today when playing games, I noticed that the WIFI icon showed me that I am not connected to the internet, but I was still able to browse the internet. I used task manager to restart Explorer, and the WIFI icon disappeared completely. I tried disabling then enabling the driver, but nothing happened. What do I do to fix this problem? If I press the Network Icon in the action centre, it shows the network window, but it doesn't list the wifi networks.

    Windows 10 wifi not turning on Acer Aspire laptop

    In order to get the list of available wireless networks, you have to:

    1. Switch on Connect to suggested open hotspots (see the screenshot in question);
    2. Click on Wifi icon in the right corner. Now you have your networks back.

    After that the parameter from Step 1 can be turned off, networks will be listed normally after restarting Wifi.

    P.S. I feel rather stupid at the moment. I thought that open hotspots are passwordless hotspots and so are presumably not very safe. So of course I've turned that off during installation.
    Really hard to see any logic in this case.
