  1. Computer Having Boot Issues Due to XMP Configuration

Hello all, as the title suggest I am having issue with booting on my PC. After rebuilding my computer I had been running into sporadic and often random error codes for about two months. After reinstalling all drivers, running memtest and finding no issues, and running DISM recovery in command prompt with no success in stopping the BSODs I reinstalled windows. I now have no BSODs while operating my pc, even while gaming, but now I've run into a new issue. When trying to boot my PC, it would get past BIOS and then boot fail to boot. The PC stated that it was failing to launch Srttrail.txt and wo

  2. Recovery image not working - Windows could not update the boot configuration

    Hi Paulie,

This issue might occur due to the damaged/corrupted boot records. We suggest that you recreate the boot configuration manually. Follow the steps below:

    • Boot into System Recovery Options, and select the Command prompt entry (It will open the
      Command Prompt at boot).
    • Select your admin account, and enter your account password to continue.
    • Type the command chkdsk /r.
    • After the check disk is completed, you may try booting the computer and check if that resolves the issue. If the issue still persists; then, try running the
SFC scan using SFC /SCANNOW command to rebuild/recover the corrupted system files on the computer.

We would appreciate it if you could get back to us and provide us your feedback.

  3. Unable to boot windows due to missing or corrupt files

    Hi Callum,

There are several reasons why your PC isn't booting properly. One of which is because of broken boot data configuration components. To isolate the issue, we highly suggest you to boot your PC in Safe Mode. Given that you cannot access the setup screen, please
    follow these steps:

    Do the improper shutdown process:

    • Turn on your computer.
    • When the Windows logo is visible, unplug the computer. Do this thrice.
    • At the 4th boot, simply wait for the Windows Recovery Environment window to appear.

After doing the improper shutdown process, please follow these steps:

    • On the Choose an option screen, select Troubleshoot.
    • Click Advanced options then, Startup Settings.
    • Click Restart.
    • Once the PC has restarted, press the F4 key to boot in Safe Mode.

Let us know if the resolution worked for you.

  4. Computer Having Boot Issues Due to XMP Configuration

Windows Installation Error (Unable to update boot configuration)

    Hi Haroon,

    Thank you for responding.

As you are not able to boot the device this issue might have occurred due to corrupted bootable system files.

As you have stated you already have a Windows 10 Education 64 bit ISO file, use the file, try to boot the device and re-build the BCD and check if it helps.

If you already have the ISO file, skip Step 1.

Step 1: I suggest you to create an installation media for
Windows 10 using the media creation tool:

Installing Windows 10 using the media creation tool

Step 2: After preparing the installation media, insert it hard reboot the device and follow the below:

    • Boot into Windows Recovery Environment using the Windows 10 installation media.
    • Click on Repair your computer.
    • Click on Troubleshoot and in the Advanced options.
    • Select Command Prompt. Type the following commands into the prompt and press Enter key after each command.

    • bootrec /fixmbr

    • bootrec /fixboot

    • bootrec /scanos

    • bootrec /rebuildbcd
    5. Restart the computer and check with the status of this issue.

NOTE: Modifying BIOS/ complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) settings incorrectly can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from booting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting
from the configuring of BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Modifications of the settings are at your own risk.

Hope it helps. Reply to the post with an updated status of this issue for further assistance.
