    Computer Inaccessible On Home Network

All computers on my small home network are Windows 10 and connected through my router by ethernet cables. Files on all but one can be accessed from the others. That one can access files on the others but its files cannot be accessed. The regular error message the other computers get is "Windows cannot access \\[computer]. You do not have permission...."

All the sharing options for a private network are on in the advanced sharing settings of the inaccessible computer and password protection is off. Its internet connection is fine.

All the folders I want the computer to share are set to share with everyone, with maximum control both in their sharing and security properties. SMB 1.0/CIFS Client and Server are both checked in Windows features, but Automatic Removal is unchecked - the same as the other network computers.

I have tried everything I could find online, including checking the services settings and turning off antivirus and firewall temporarily, but nothing has worked. I would appreciate any additional recommendations to deal with this problem.

    :)

  2. Networks on computers

    Hi Terry,

This could be due to device drivers getting corrupted leading to the computer showing multiple inaccessible network adapters on your device. To resolve your concern, kindly answer the questions below:

    • When did the issue start to occur?
    • Were there any changes made or updates installed prior to the issue occurring?
    • What troubleshooting steps have you attempted?
    • Which version and build of Windows 10 is installed on your device?

We look forward to your response to our queries.

  3. Workgroup computer inaccessible on the network

I’m having an issue with a computer that is inaccessible to the rest of the workgroup. This workstation has its file sharing enabled in Network and Sharing Center and can be pinged on the network by other computers (as well as ping out.) There are three computers in a workgroup including the computer in question and all other computers are working correctly. I have a shared folder on the inaccessible computer and have given ‘Everyone’ read access.

Trying to navigate to \\dns-name doesn’t work nor does \\ip-address.

    Any ideas?

    Computer Inaccessible On Home Network

One computer cannot access other network computers.

So I've tried every troubleshooting step I know:
    • Double checked that Net Bios was enabled
    • Ran a bunch of network commands:
      • flushed DNS
      • registered dns
      • pinged and located the named computers successfully
    • Reset my router to factory settings

Nothing works when I try to access via explorer. I'm still baffled by the fact that every other computer can access each other AND access this computer. It's just the outgoing connection from this machine that doesn't work.

    Any thoughts?
