Computer keeps slowing down intermittently and can't determine why

I just reinstalled Windows 2 days ago because I couldn't get it to detect the sound device on mother board. This after a week of trying different driver install techniques. The sound device was crippled after numerous windows updates after not using this hard drive for a while.Sometimes it is normal and I can use it as normal but other times goes to a crawl and just clicking start menu or a window or moving it, resizing it, changing browser tabs or anything like that will take several seconds to a minute.Checked Event viewer logs , nothing critical is showing in those.Internet speed is over 10

    :)

  2. Slow Computer

    Hi Sheree,

One of the most common reasons for a slow computer are programs running in the background. Other factors that can contribute to the issue are memory space, malware infection, outdated software, and processor overheating. To improve your computer's performance,
you can check the tips listed on this link. We suggest that you also try to follow the suggested steps.

Feel free to post back if you have further questions.

  3. Mouse cursor keeps loading intermittently

    Hi MrXT,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I can understand your confusion. Let's slow down and analyze step by step.

In general, intermittent loading of the mouse cursor means that there may be processes to process.

The reasons for this phenomenon are complex.

    • It is possible that the device hardware performance is insufficient and the processor resource scheduling is not efficient enough.
    • It is also possible that some applications or services are scheduling resources in an unconscious way in the background.
Both of the above situations are relatively normal situations, and the worst case is that some rogue software, viruses and other abnormal applications occupy resources in the background.

For the requirements you described, you can perform clean boot to analyze the problem phenomenon step by step.

Disclaimer: A “clean boot” starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. It helps to determine whether a background program is interfering with your game or program and to isolate the cause of a problem. These steps of "clean boot" might look complicated at first glance. However, to avoid any trouble for you, please follow them in order and step-by step so that it will help you get you back on track.

In addition, it is not ruled out that some hardware drivers have some problems, resulting in resource scheduling that cannot be well implemented, which induces this phenomenon.

If there is anything not clear, please do not hesitate to let me know.

    Best Regards,
